About Touristang Pobre

touristang pobre

Hi, I am the Touristang Pobre which literally means a poor tourist.

That is how I looked at myself in 2013 when I started blogging my travels from Philadelphia, U.S.A. I started to name my Blog Site as - Touristang Pobre. Few years later, a few Vlog Sites or Youtubers called their sites Touristang Pobre. But the original TP is the one I created in 2013 here in the United States.

"Pobre" means that I do not have enough money to spend for my travels. So, I looked forward to the time when a family member will invite me to join them to a travel destination for free. Most of my Blogs were the product of this kind of arrangement, so to speak. There are times when I go as a solo backpacker.

My blog site is just simple.  I lack the expertise of IT, so, I just write, post pictures, and share it with my friends and some followers all over the Philippines and from all over.

If you like the places that I feature on my blog site, please follow me on Touristang Pobre Facebook page, like my FB page, and share my blog with your friends.  Have a nice day.

It's me, Henry, your Filipino American travel blogger.

TP looks at the horizon towards the Philippines.  The island on the left is Cocos Island, Guam, U.S.A.  The photo was taken at the Port of Merizo, Southern Guam Island. Other than Saipan, Cocos Island is very popular among tourists.  There is a boat service between Merizo and Cocos Island.  The fare is $25.00.

Fort William Henry is a British Fort named after a British Prince.  It is located on the Southern end of Lake George, State of New York.

TP joins his daughter and her family on a cruise to the islands of Bermuda.  It is a British Colony in the Atlantic Ocean.  The Norwegian Cruise Line docks at the port of New York City, along the Hudson River. This photo, however, was taken at the Heritage Wharf, Royal Naval Dockyard, Bermuda.

TP tries riding a water buffalo called a Carabao.  Big John shows two big thumbs up.  Sorry, Big John passed away, I guess, last year, 2016.  This photo was taken at the Fort of Nuestra Senora de la Soledad at Umatac Township, Guam Island, U.S.A. This part of Umatac Bay is where the ships of the famous Mexico-Manila Galleon Trade used to dock.  The bay is also the spot where Ferdinand Magellan docked his ship on March 6, 1521.  This is a well-recorded and a celebrated event here in Umatac.

Now, this is Touristang Pobre.  For him he wants to travel for as long as he can and while his bones, his feet are strong enough to carry him wherever he wants to go to explore new places that he has never been to.  Yet, he remains "pobre" because he has no source of income to finance his travels. He only depends on "freebies" or "free rides" from family and friends.

So, now you know why he is a poor tourist or traveler?  A Touristang Pobre, indeed...

Finally, he would like to sincerely thank you for following his travel blog - The Touristang Pobre.

According to one writer, the world is like a book, if you have not traveled, you only read a few pages.

The top photo shows the author (5th from left) with his classmates from the University at Canberra during their educational tour of Lower Molonglo Water Quality Control Centre in Canberra City, the capital of Australia.

The photo above shows the author sipping coffee in his room the morning after a day-tour of Yosemite National Park in the Western Sierra Nevada of Central California.
Hereunder, the author took a souvenir picture with El Capitan, a huge rock which is composed entirely of pale, coarse-grained granite emplaced* 100 MYA (million years ago).
*place or fixed in this site a long time ago.

Below are the blooming flowers at the Holland Farms in his hometown in New Jersey, U.S.A.
Can you name this flower?

Every time I see the Sunflower, I remember the movie of the same title starring Sofia Loren. In the movie, she was searching for her lost husband who went to war and was missing in action in Russia during the second world war. Tani, wala na guerra nu? Libre kita manga buhi, lagaw, paligo sa suba, swimming sa higad baybay, spear fishing, boating, camping and bonfire kon gab-i, o di ba, tawhay lang?

Photo above and below was shot in Boracay Island, Philippines. I stayed for free at Red Coconut Beach Hotel. Red Coconut has a website for your reference, hereunder:
Red Coconut Beach Hotel | The Yes Hotel!

It's the author enjoying the afternoon on the beachfront at Siargao Island, Philippines.
Hereunder, he just disembarked from the Outrigger boat at Entalula Island, El Nido, Palawan.
At Christmas Tree Island ba ang sabi mo?

Cambugahay Falls and doing the "Tarzan" is one of the attractions in Siquijor Island, Negros Oriental.
The local residents and caretaker of Mactang Beach at Camotes Islands.
Mactang Beach is where Lapu-Lapu and the rest of this family members lived before and during the arrival of Ferdinand Magellan in 1521. It was here where an excavation team found several war artifacts and the lone skeleton of a caucasian man with long legs and arms. The year was 1970, I guess. Whose bone remains would that be?

Touristang Pobre took this photo of the Statue of Liberty while onboard the Norwegian Cruise Line - Breakaway en route to Bermuda Island in the Atlantic Ocean.
