WATER PARK ADVENTURE AT THE POCONOS PENNSYLVANIA

A WATER PARK ADVENTURE AT THE POCONOS PENNSYLVANIA

By Henry Libo-on

Kalahari

What is the Pocono Mountains Region of Pennsylvania?

For several times I have been to this region of Pennsylvania and I enjoyed a holiday in the Camelback Mountain area of the Poconos as well as a stay in the indoor resort called Kalahari.  But I never thought that the Pocono Mountains is a huge cultural region and I guess, home to more or less 15 mountain resorts, hotels, and entertainment places.

To better my appreciation of the Poconos, I did a research and this is what I got:

"The Pocono Mountains, commonly referred to as The Poconos /ˈpoÊŠkəˌnoÊŠz/, are a geographical, geological, and cultural region in Northeastern Pennsylvania, United States. The Poconos are an upland of the larger Allegheny Plateau. Forming a 2,400-square-mile (6,200 km2escarpment overlooking the Delaware River and Delaware Water Gap to the east, the mountains are bordered on the north by Lake Wallenpaupack, on the west by the Wyoming Valley and the Coal Region, and to the south by the Lehigh Valley. The name comes from the Munsee word Pokawachne, which means "Creek Between Two Hills."[1] Much of the Poconos region lies within the Greater New York-Newark, NY-NJ-CT-PA Combined Statistical Area. The wooded hills and valleys have long been a popular recreation area, accessible within a two-hour drive to millions of metropolitan area residents, with many communities having resort hotels with fishing, hunting, skiing, and other sports facilities."  Source: Wikipedia. Please "huwag naman akong bigyan ng grade of "F" or "0" for citing Wikipedia, haha.....

Hereunder are the five (5) photos I sourced from https://en.wikipedia.org

The place that I went to on this trip to the Poconos is the African themed waterpark resort, convention center, and hotel called Kalahari.

Located in the State of Pennsylvania, Kalahari is a little more than an hour road trip from where we live.  It was during the season of cold and chilly wind that we decided to have fun with the kids in Kalahari Resort.

Location:

250 Kalahari Blvd, Pocono Manor, PA 18349
Phone: (570) 580-6000
website: kalahariresorts.com

Kalahari is a place to have fun for kids from 1 to 91, so to speak.

Their amenities include Wifi, Swimming Pool, Waterpark, Bar and Restaurant, Spa, Hot Tub, Fitness Center, Business Center, Convention Center, and Parking, among others. Their website says they are PWD Accessible and Family-friendly.

During our visit, I had enough time to roam around and check on their facilities and services. There is one thing that caught my attention and that is their use of wood in their beautifully designed furniture and fixtures. The Motif I guess is African Safari.

There is a wide Parking Area and the green areas have sculptured big animals like Lions, Elephants, Tortoises, and Rhinoceroses, among others.

We only stayed overnight since my grandchildren have classes that Monday.

For a greater appreciation of this indoor themed waterpark resort, I included a video of Kalahari which was sourced from VIMEO.  I hope you will enjoy these videos.  Yes, there are a number of videos about Kalahari in this link. Just click it to go there.

Blogger's Note:

This post is based on my personal experience while spending an overnight stay at Kalahari. Kalahari did not sponsor my stay here.  We paid for everything from the room, food, and drinks and use of facilities, and all others.
