Introduction
Man exists to satisfy his most basic need, a shelter on his head, clothes on his body, food on the table, create a secure environment, and to love someone, among others. But life is not always tailored to be that way. There are many things that man has to hurdle before achieving the desires of his heart. If things are difficult to get, man has the capacity to find the ways and the means to have them. If he cannot achieve by going straight, he can turn left, or turn right, go up or go down. The most important thing is he does something to achieve his most cherished dreams. If he cannot achieve it now, he can wait for tomorrow where the day might be brighter than yesterday.
Life is like a Sunset. It has its ups and downs and man will always find a way to make it better, to hope for the best to come because after the sunset there is a sunrise. The Light does not dim when the sun sets because when the sun is gone the stars and the moon take over to brighten one's life. So, do not lose hope because when the sun is down, the stars and the moon will light up your way. (Just mine).
"Nothing can dim the light that shines from within." Maya Angelou.

This is the sunset that we saw upon our arrival at this part of the Mussel Rock Park in the area of Skyline Drive and Westline Drive, Daly City, California.
How did I get here?
This trip to the Mussel Rock Park was part of my 3-day tour of San Francisco and its environs. I was searching on the internet those places which were not published or were not blogged by other travelers before. Although Mussel Rock Park is popular with joggers, picnickers, as well as among locals who are engaged in sports activities like parasailing, and horseback riding, among others, not many realize that the best sunset can be watched on the bayfront of this park.
I asked my daughter Tin to take me to the beach. So, together with Tin and Curtis, we drove to Mussel Rock Park. On the way to Mussel Rock, the setting sun was already visible as shown in the picture below.
Mussel Rock Park is located at Skyline Drive and Westline Drive, Daly City, California 94015. Curtis used the GPS to locate the parking area and lookout facing the Bay.

The bright light from the sun is still visible but it can no longer wait for me it has to leave and complete its cycle leaving me its hues of yellow, orange, and pink. "Katulad ng Life natin, ang swerte hindi nag hihintay sa atin, aalis sya kung hindi tayo mabilis na makamtan ito."
(Translation - In our Life, luck (if you believe in luck) shows up in an instance but does not wait for us, once it appears we have to embrace it right away or else it may disappear.")
Picnickers enjoy the nice view of the bay while doing the barbecue.

There is a parking area on this part of the Mussel Park and an area for a barbecue with tables and chairs for the picnickers' use.

When I had enough of watching the sunset, we decided to go back home and prepare ourselves for our next adventure - a dinner at THE TASTE Restaurant at Embassy Suites at Burlingame. This time my daughter Angel and granddaughter Natalie were with me except for my son-in-law Ness who worked that day.
What to do at Mussel Rock Park?
There are so many activities you can engage in when in Mussel Rock Park. The area is ideal for jogging, horseback riding, biking in some areas, parasailing, boating, picnic with family and friends, I guess doing yoga and meditation in safe areas with friends around, among others.
But I find watching the sunset as a very relaxing activity in Mussel Rock beachfront area. Every sunset is unique. I have watched so many sunsets in several places I have been to and each sunset is a different experience.
Where to stay in Mussel Rock Park?
You do not need to worry about where to stay in Mussel Rock Park because it can be your side trip when visiting San Francisco. So, you can stay in one of the hotels around the city or you chose to stay in the Daly City area. Here is my suggested list of hotels:
1. Hampton Inn at 2700 Junipero Serra Boulevard, Daly City, CA.
2. Lighthouse Hotel at 105 Rockaway Beach Avenue, Pacifica, CA.
3. Holiday Inn Express & Suites Pacifica at 519 Nick Gust Way, Pacifica, CA.
4. America's Best Value Inn at 2160 Francisco Boulevard, Pacifica, CA.
5. Royal Inn at 120 Hickey Boulevard, South San Francisco, CA.
You can also Google the name of your hotel, write its complete address and use your GPS to locate it.
My Tips
When traveling to San Francisco either for business or pleasure, make it a point to schedule a trip to one or two secret places in the Bay Area. By secret places, I mean those places that are not popularly known so these can add up to the places you visited in that place.
Mussel Rock Park is one of these places which offer a relaxing view of the sunset as well as other activities that you can do during the day. In the San Francisco area, there is a Cupid Span or a sculpture of Cupid's bow and arrow, the Treasure Island which is located midway down the Bay Bridge en route to Oakland and Berkeley areas, the China Beach, the beachfront of Sausalito City which is located across the Golden Gate Bridge, the Embarcadero Street and the Pier 39 area, the Marina, Alcatraz, the bay cruise, and the Golden Gate Bridge lookout, among others. You can also ride the tram and the bus to tour the city. Please do not forget to pass by the winding road of San Francisco which is popularly known as Lombard Street.
