Never did it occur in my wildest dreams that I can step on the hallowed land of the "First State" of the United States, the state of Delaware. It was a cool autumn morning when we left New Jersey on our two-hour trip to Delaware to join a family gathering of my son-in-law Nick.
I wish it could happen again in 2020 but the pandemic has stalled all our plans including the trip to London in July. With all the changes that happened not only here in the U.S. but around the world, all I can hope for is that everybody to stay safe and wait for the right time to travel. We can make it, just hold on tight. We shall overcome.
The two-hour ride was not a boring experience since I took pictures of the sceneries along the road. American roads and highways always create an awesome feeling for me. The trees that once were brilliantly colored green were now turning to yellow, orange, and maroon to ecru. The chilly morning creates a feeling of winter rushing to happen and wrestle the moment from autumn.
Big Oak Park, Delaware.
As we drove down the town of Smyrna, we searched for the Big Oak Park where five families will converge for a big birthday celebration.
The global positioning of the park is N 39° 16.603 W 075° 34.909. For your GPS, the address is 417 Big Oak Road, Smyrna, Delaware, 19977 with telephone number (302) 744-2495.
The park has a wide playground where children can enjoy the swing, rock climbing, a tall rocket ship slide, baseball, and soccer. There is a pavilion with picnic tables. Around the playground is a Boardwalk Nature Trails.
At the pavilion, we occupied four tables. Family members had a nice conversation. We enjoyed the meal, and the children spent enough time playing in the rocket slide, the rock climbing station, the swing, and flying the kite.
The Fifer Orchard @ Wyoming, Delaware.
After spending time at Big Oak Park, we drove to the township of Wyoming, where the Fifer Orchard is located. After a few minute's drive, we arrived at the farm and spotted a parking space for our vehicles. We walked towards the activity area to see what's in store for the kids. There were farm animals, rides, apple picking, popcorn, donuts, and a free Diaper Station. This one caught my attention because this is the first time I saw such a freebie in an orchard.
We devoted enough time to picking apples because the children enjoyed this experience. They liked being carried by adults and allowed to pick the apples right from the branch. After the apple picking activity, we decided to go back to the main activity area to savor their freshly baked bread and donuts with coffee.

Below is a vintage Ford vehicle that caught my attention. This is one vehicle that was originally used on the farm.
As the clouds turned from cumulus to Nimbus, we decided to call it a day after sharing a few donuts and drinks at a vintage Ford pick-up of Fifer Orchard. Fifer is one of the biggest farms that I have been to in the state of New Jersey. Our group of five families really enjoyed their visit to this farm.
Frankie's Restaurant, Dover Downs Hotel, and Casino
An intimate evening at Frankie's of Dover Downs Hotel and Casino. It was an evening of fine food, drinks (consisted mostly of soda, haha....), and of course, conversation. Sharing family news and updates was the agenda of the evening and of course, the triple birthday celebration for Tito Bert, Al, and Melvin. At Frankie's, we enjoyed the night away. It was an intimate evening, the families will surely cherish.
NASCAR Stadium
After spending the night in our hotel, we spent the rest of that Sunday morning, packing our things in preparation for our trip back to New Jersey.
We left the hotel before check-out time and motored to a nearby buffet restaurant considered to be one of the best in Delaware. This restaurant has a wide array of food and desserts. The staff was nice and the service was good.
The Monster Mile at NASCAR Stadium.
Before three in the afternoon, we left the restaurant and drove to the NASCAR Stadium. We had a good pictorial with Monster Mile. I tried to inspect the place for an entrance to the stadium but because it was a Sunday, the gates were closed. So, we just enjoyed taking pictures with the giant Monster Mile.
It was very chilly that afternoon and everybody seemed determined to call it a day and decided to drive back to our respective states.
My Delaware adventure will surely be remembered and I hope to revisit it one day.

HOMEWARD BOUND. Not with this helicopter but with our respective cars, haha...
