BANTAYAN PARK

 Bantayan Park, Bago City

Introduction

In the historic city of Bago in the southern part of Bacolod City lies the most visited park called Bantayan.

Located along the long stretch of road beside the Bago River, Bantayan Park serves as a promenade for the residents as well as visitors from all over the island of Negros. Promenade can also be similar to Esplanade.

At Bantayan Park, visitors can enjoy the beautiful sunset specifically near the area of the river's "bocana" or the mouth of the river where the water is emptied into the sea.

Bocana is a Spanish term that means "Estuary" or the mouth of the river.

Are there restaurants in Bantayan Park?

Yes, there are several food stalls, and restaurants that line up the long stretch of riverside road going to the "Bocana".

How to get there?

From the Bus Stop near the Public Market of Bago, hail a Tricycle and ask the driver to take you to Bantayan Park. Most probably, the Tricycle driver will charge P10.00 (Ten Pesos) per person but not more than P30.00.

If you are traveling by car, just ask Google to provide you with the map of Bago City, indicating Bantayan Park.

Are you comfortable with Waze? Then, check if it is available in this area.

What to do in Bantayan Park?

Thanks.

Food Trip is one activity that visitors want to experience. Barbecue stalls are everywhere in the park. Small restaurants offer hot meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Most of these restaurants also offer cold beer, soda, and the more enterprising ones have smoothie and/or fruit shakes.

Thanks Ms. Cecille.

Strolling on the park means feasting your visual sense with the beauty of this estuary, the green riverside, the occasional visits of local or migratory birds, and for kids, several toys and balloons for sale and sometimes, the cotton candy.

You can also go upland and visit the Buenos Aires Resort, Rafael Salas Park, Old Sugar Central in Ma-ao, Kipot Falls, and many more.

You can also visit the City Tourism Office for more information. Their office is located in Old Poblacion, just around the vicinity of Bantayan Park. You can ask any local where you can find this CTO.

Are there festival and/or special events in Bago during the year?

Yes. On November 5 of each year, Bago celebrates it Cinco de Noviembre.  You can visit my Blog about this here - BAGO CITY: SIGABONG SANG MGA KANYON - Touristang Pobre

Another one is Biray sa Bantayan which is held during the month of June. I still have to arrange for an attendance in the future so I can be physically present on this day.
Finally, the best day to visit Bantayan Park, for me, is few hours before Sunset. I enjoy watching the sun sets near the "Bocana" of Bago River. Then, I will have dinner and a little drink of beer in one of the resto-bars along the road that faces the river. At nighttime, colorful lights from the business establishments and the lamp posts add color to the whole park. Before this, you can spend the afternoon, after lunch, visiting the house of General Juan Araneta, the historical marker at the plaza, the church, the market, the relics of Bago Bridge, and more.
