2018 REMEMBERING MY FIRST VISIT AT PRINCETON UNIVERSITY

Princeton University is one of the four oldest universities in the United States.  It was founded in 1746 in Elizabeth, a city in New Jersey, as College of New Jersey.  Princeton University is one of the nine colonial colleges to be chartered before the American Revolution (1775-1783) which is also known as the American War of Independence. (The Wikipedia).  This is the back of the Main Building.  The photo was taken by Henry Libo-on.

Who would not want to be schooled at Princeton?  I would be a hypocrite if I will say that I did not wish to have attended school in this university where one could get the best education in his or her lifetime.  How would it be if I attended school here? That is the question.  Well, in 2000 I had the opportunity to attend a short-course on Designing Sustainable Development at the University of Canberra, one of Australia's best universities. The feeling is great to have attended a prestigious school in Australia.  How much more if it was Princeton?

Now, let us go back to Princeton U.  In the huge campus, I saw several buildings such as the College of Education Building and many others.  There are Gothic buildings or one that reflects Roman Architecture.
From the City of Elizabeth here in New Jersey, the school moved to Newark and nine years later, it was transferred to its current site where it was renamed Princeton University in 1896.  (The Wikipedia).

The present school campus is located in the Township called Princeton too. It is in this town where the university's Theological Seminary and Institute of Advanced Study, among others, are located.  The rest of the university's lands and facilities are located across Carnegie Lake in West Windsor Township.
Princeton is an Ivy League Research University.  To be in the Ivy League school means that it is one of the most prestigious schools in the world. The term Ivy League connotes academic excellence, selectivity in admissions and social elitism. (The Wikipedia). Originally, Ivy League refers to the Athletic Conference of the member schools/universities in the United States.  Later that concept goes beyond athletics.
There are eight (8) Ivy League Schools in the U.S. These are Brown University, Columbia University, Cornell University, Dartmouth College, Harvard University, University of Pennsylvania, Yale University, and Princeton University in New Jersey.
Princeton University produced top caliber graduates.  They are leaders and achievers of Business, Industry, Entertainment, Politics, Education, Foreign Service, Medicine, Judiciary, Science, and many others.  Since I came from Asia, it is nice to know that an Asian graduated from Princeton during its early years, in 1876.  That man was Hikoichi Orita.

According to Wikipedia, "As of 2017, 63 Nobel laureates14 Fields Medalists, and 10 Turing Award laureates have been affiliated with Princeton University as alumni, faculty members or researchers. In addition, Princeton has been associated with 21 National Medal of Science winners, 5 Abel Prize winners, 5 National Humanities Medal recipients, 209 Rhodes Scholars, 139 Gates Cambridge Scholars and 126 Marshall Scholars.[17] Two U.S. Presidents, 12 U.S. Supreme Court Justices (three of whom currently serve on the court) and numerous living billionaires and foreign heads of state are all counted among Princeton's alumni body. Princeton has also graduated many prominent members of the U.S. Congress and the U.S. Cabinet, including eight Secretaries of State, three Secretaries of Defense and three of the past five Chairs of the Federal Reserve.
A famous landmark at Princeton.

From 2001 to 2018, Princeton University was ranked either first or second among national universities by U.S. News & World Report, holding the top spot for 16 of those 18 years.[16] (Wikipedia)

From the Parking Area, you can walk to your destination.  You can walk slow or jog to reach your classroom.  There are dormitories too on the campus where students can live while attending school at the university.  Just like the University of Canberra, it has a College House and Dorm where students like me, can live inside the campus while attending school there.
In this photo, I am shown carrying my grandson Coco while walking in this area of the university.  Modern families put an emphasis on education. Education is the greatest equalizer, someone says. If you have a good education, you can have several options that others do not have.  Well, career-wise, one can improve one's self professionally and financially.

I would not be surprised if after reading this article, you might consider sending your children to this university.  Why not?
