Aztec Designed Chapel @ Taytay, Palawan

The Chapel at Fort of Santa Isabel in the town of Taytay, northwest of Palawan is one of the most unique Spanish heritage edifices I saw on this island.  The Fort was constructed in 1667 based on the visible Royal Seal on the entrance to the Fort. This Chapel could have been constructed around this century too.  It's unique design reflects Aztec influences.  Its designer-artisans were probably Spanish Friars or soldiers from Mexico.  Small as it is, this chapel emits a very strong aura of a bygone era of power and cultural heritage.  Taytay town is the first capital of the island of Palawan in 1859 up to 1876. The chapel is located on the upper level of the Fort and is overlooking the vast sea.
