Dining @ Tito Rad's, New York
One of the best ways to make your day a productive one is to schedule your activities ahead of time so that all the other things you wish to do can fit in. This is what happened when we decided to go to New York last week for an urgent business. So, meeting with old friends and dining in a popular Filipino restaurant have to go together in just a matter of four hours.
We arrived in New York an hour before lunch but on the way, we had to call the restaurant for a little bit of advanced booking and order our food over the phone. When we arrived at the restaurant, we had to park outside and waited for about 20 minutes. It was good timing because our New Yorker friends from Bacolod arrived and after a little tete-a-tete, we went together to the restaurant.
Our food was finally served. Grilled Tuna Jaw, aka "inihaw na panga"; Yellow Fin Tuna Sinigang; "Pinakbet" a vegetable with shrimp paste; and for dessert we were served with Cassava-Jackfruit cake. The atmosphere was relaxed, although a bit overcrowded. But, a friend told me that they were planning to extend to the next vacant store-space.
I enjoy great Pinoy food. In New York, a few Filipino brands are already in the market. There is Red Ribbon, Max's Restaurant, and Jollibee. Maybe, the next time we will be in the big apple, we will dine at the Jeepney.
