Introduction
Throughout the history of mankind, Egypt has played a very vital role as the Cradle of Ancient Civilization. The development of Mathematics, Geometry, Medicine, Architecture, Engineering, Astronomy, Religion, the Science of Mummification, etcetera, and so on and so forth have started and developed in Ancient Egypt.
This Saturday, April 3, 2021, the Government of Egypt will inaugurate one of its most ambitious projects which is the state-of-the-art National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Old Cairo which will showcase the 22 Royal Mummies from Rameses II to Queen Nefertiri, and Queen Hatshepsut, among others.

The Pharoah's Golden Parade
The inauguration of the NMEC is highlighted by the Pharaoh's Golden Parade which is actually the transfer of 22 of Egypt's royal mummies from the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square, Cairo to their permanent site near the Ain El Sira Lake in Fustat, Old Cairo where the NMEC, National Museum of Egyptian Civilization is located.
According to Thiruvenkatam Chinnagounder of Paperblog (en.paperblog.com)
"The parade will begin when the doors of the Egyptian Museum open to allow the 22 mummies to exit for the last time which will then be transferred to cars specially built for the parade with a logo and the names of the royal mummies in Arabic, English, and Hieroglyphics. This parade will take place in the presence of many international ambassadors and the media. All of the chosen mummies have been strictly scanned and readied for the parade for the past 14 months, as they have been in the exact same place welcoming tourists and visitors for around 120 years. It is foreseeable that the parade will receive significant international recognition."
As soon as the Egyptian Museum opened its doors, the transport of the Royal Mummies began. The convoy of specially designed vehicles containing the mummy of 18 Kings and 4 Queens, paraded on the streets of Cairo to the NMEC at Fustat City in Old Cairo. The latter is a very historical place for the Pharaohs and Queens of Egypt.

Beautiful ladies humbly carry the tribute in their hands as they parade on their way to the NMEC. At one point, they will line up along the route of the royal mummies that were carried by special vehicles. The royal mummies are placed in their respective sarcophagus. These sarcophagi include the mummies of King Ramses II; King Seqenenre Tao; King Thutmose III; King Seti I; Queen Hatshepsut; and Queen Meritamen, the wife of King Amenhotep I; and Queen Ahmose Nefertari, the wife of King Ahmose I. Each mummy was carried in a specially designed glass capsule with shock absorbers so they wouldn't get damaged during transportation, Egyptian archaeologist Zahi Hawass told Reuters. (yahoo! news at news.yahoo.com)
"By doing it like this, with great pomp and circumstance, the mummies are getting their due," said Salima Ikram, an Egyptologist at the American University in Cairo, according to Al Jazeera. (news.yahoo.com)

NMEC at Fustat.
The transfer of the royal mummies from the original museum in Tahrir Square passed through Cairo Street to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat City, Old Cairo. The permanent location of the royal mummies composed of 18 Kings and 4 Queens which is the NMEC is near the Fortress of Babylon and the very ancient place called Ain Al Sira.
Ain El Sira Lake and the NMEC
Spanning 135,000 square meters across the ancient city, NMEC overlooks Ain El Sira Lake and is in close proximity to Old Cairo’s multi-religious complex, which consists of the Hanging Church, Amr Ibn Al’As Mosque, and Ben Ezra Synagogue – or the “Jewish Temple". My Tips
For me, the new site of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Old Cairo is a good location because it is 111 miles from Alexandria, a coastal city in the Mediterranean which is in the North of Old Cairo.
The museum is 670 kilometers from Luxor in the south of Cairo. From Old Cairo where the NMEC is located, there are several historical places on the southern route to Upper Egypt such as Mallawi, Asyut, Qena, the glorious city of Luxor, and Aswan among others. The latter is about 680 km. or 425 miles from Cairo.
The present location of the NMEC has accessibility to all forms of tourism-related services like airports, hotels, and boat service to the Nile River, among others.
Because this museum is now closer to where most ancient landmarks are located, I might as well include this in my "someday list". Why not?
So, if you plan to visit Egypt in the near future, include the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir, and the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization at Fustat, Old Cairo because it is also near the other ancient historical sites and places that also house artifacts that showcase Egyptian Antiquities.
Finally, please check with your Travel Agent or Airline about the current travel guidelines to your point of destination before finalizing your travel plans or purchasing your tickets. Travel guidelines may change without prior notice and even changes in the country's visa requirements.

What does the local press say?
Who were these royals?
Of the 22 royal mummies taking up residence at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, 20 were put on display, and two, Queen Meritamun and Queen T, were put into storage. The 20 on display, from oldest to youngest, are: Seqenenre TaaII, Ahmose Nefertari, Amenhotep I, Thutmose I, Thutmose II, Hatshepsut, Thutmose III, Amenhotep II, Thutmose IV, Amenhotep III, Seti I, Ramses II, Merenptah, Seti II, Siptah, Ramses III, Ramses IV, Ramses V, Ramses VI and Ramses IX.
Over more than 3,000 years these kings and queens will have moved from one tomb to another, from one capital to another, and from one museum to another. Now, hopefully, they'll finally be allowed to rest in peace. (Source: CBS News at cbsnews.com by Ahmed Shawkat, April 5,2021. Thanks.)
Lastly, the whole event was attended by the Ambassadors of different countries, members of the international media, the members of the Egyptian society as well as the government officials like the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, Zahi Hawass the famous Egyptian Archaeologist, and the national government officials headed by President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
