4. By Bridge - Bosphorus Bridge connects Istanbul Turkey to Europe and the neighboring countries thereat.

* * * * * * *

Istanbul is at the "crossroads" between Europe and Asia. Why? The Bosphorus Strait, along with the Strait of Gallipoli, divides Istanbul from Europe and Asia. Turkey is a country that is divided by Bosphorus Strait; therefore, a part of Turkey is on the Europe side and Turkey on the Asia side.

The continents of Europe and Asia, through Istanbul, is connected by the Bosphorus Bridge. According to Expedia Dot Com, Bosphorus Bridge is a 1-mile (1.5-kilometer) long suspension bridge that crosses the Bosphorus Strait. It stretches between Istanbul’s Ortaköy and Beylerbeyi districts. Opened in 1973, it was the first bridge to connect the continents of Europe and Asia.

This week, our feature travelers and photographers are Reino & Sharyn from the U.S.A.

They shared with us their trip to Turkey by these photos, specifically, of their Bosphorus Strait Cruise.

Why go for a cruise?

One of the best ways to discover the Bosphorus Strait is through a Cruise. There are many interesting spots to see along the route of the cruise vessel.

Photos by Reino & Sharyn.

Nene Hatun is a Rescue & Salvage ship docked along the Bosphorus Strait. This is a search and rescue vessel registered under the flag of Turkey. The ship is owned by the Turkish Government.

Hereunder is a photo of the cruise vessel loaded with tourists.
In the background is L 400 ship of the Turkish Navy.
If I'm not mistaken, this Navy Ship is TCG Anadolu which is docked at Seraglio Point, along the Bosphorus Strait. Please comment if, indeed, this is Anadolu.

Trivia: The Bosphorus Strait had been the center of conflicts in history such as the Russo-Turkish War of 1877 - 1878; and the 1915 attack of the Allied Forces on Dardanelles. In 1923, the control of this strait was returned to Turkey.
Along the Strait are Ports, like Gallipoli, Eceabat, and Canakkale..... all in Turkey.
