MABINAY SPRING RESORT

Location: Mabinay, Negros Oriental, Philippines.

 Introduction

When the Spaniards made an excursion outside of their first settlement of Cebu Island circa 1460s, they reached a neighboring island which was populated by dark skinned natives and called that island as Isla de Negros. The island, however, was known to the inhabitants of the island as "Buglas".

The first settlers of the island were known as Negritos but as years went by, the people were known as Negrenses and sometimes Negrosanons, meaning "people from the island of Negros".

The island is endowed with beautiful spots such as waterfalls, springs, caves, high and green mountain peaks, clean and navigable rivers, and beaches. The island's forest is also rich in diverse flora and fauna.

Mabinay Spring Resort is a small spot located a few minutes from the main road/highway.
Visitors enjoy swimming in the spring-fed water pools.

Fast forward to today, there is a popular tourist spot in the town of Mabinay which is called Mabinay Spring Resort. The spring is located in the forestal area of the town. The local government of Mabinay developed this place and opened it to local and international tourists and adventurers.

 How to get there?

Let's agree that you are in Kabankalan. From the city proper, Mabinay Spring Resort is about 35-45 minutes. The entrance to Mabinay Spring Resort is on the left side of the road, from Kabankalan. There is a sign board on the left side of the road that is quite visible from the road.

If you are from Mabinay town proper, Mabinay Spring Resort is around 5-10 minutes. The entrance to the resort is on the right side of the road from Mabinay going to Kabankalan. The sign board is not visible, so I suggest you ask the local resident before you go past the entrance or "Likuan".

In our case, we left Mabinay and we went back to Kabankalan but passed by Mabinay Spring Resort and had lunch there. After an hour, we left the resort to go to another tourist spot, the Mag-aso Falls which is in Barangay Oringao, Kabankalan. This Falls is about 12 - 15 minutes drive from the town proper of Kabankalan.

My comments:

There is nothing much to do in Mabinay Spring Resort. So, we just relaxed in our spot near the pool, whic is actually a mand-made pool with clean and cool water from the spring.

The pool is about ten (10) feet deep at the center of the pool. The approach to the pool is about 4-5 feet.

Since the resort is in the forest, the place is cool.
