MAG-ASO FALLS - Barangay Oringao, Kabankalan, Negros Occidental, Philippines.

Introduction

At first glance, I imagine it to be a perfect backdrop of a pre-wedding photo shoot.

The scenery around Mag-aso Falls made it so precious to the eyes of local and international visitors. I have been to many waterfalls in my life as a travel writer but I find Mag-aso Falls unique. Not all waterfalls are the same, I guess.

How to get there?

Let's agree that you are in Kabankalan City. The city is about two and a half hours from Bacolod City, the capital of Negros Occidental. So, from Kabankalan city proper, Mag-aso Falls is about 12-15 minutes by car. The four-lane road is concrete and going to Mag-aso Resort, where the falls is located, is easy peasy, so to speak.

Mag-aso Falls or shall I say, the Resort, is elevated and you will have a good view of the lowlands, the city of Kabankalan, the nearby towns, and the sea.

This part of Barangay Oringao (pronounced Ori-ngaw), is surrounded by greens, trees, forests, sugarcane farms, and mountains.

My tip:

Since there are few Tricycles that go to the resort, it is good if you have a car. If none, then, you can make arrangement with the Tricycle Driver to take you to the resort, and pick you up at certain time, for example, in the afternoon.

Where to stay?

As of the moment, Mag-aso Falls caters to day time visitors even if they have cottages and area for camping. The Tourism Office of Kabankalan manages the resort. They have resort-based personnel that assist the visitors at anytime of the day.

Mag-aso Falls has a Twin.

What to do?

There is a big swimming pool, shed houses, cottages, a canteen, a function hall, and area for walking. The falls is located on the lower portion of the resort and is accessible through stairs and walkways.

There are sitting area on the way to the falls.

The water from the falls, flow through the river and downstream to the lowlands. On this waterway, visitors can have a dip. I have not seen children on the falls, so I guess, the way to the falls inhibit the children to explore it. Just my thinking.

There are bathrooms, and restrooms around the resort.

The "hagdan" is on the side of the cliff, hmmm....parang ganon, lol.

Going down is a challenge but going up, it is still a challenge as you have to catch your breath too, lol.
